Vented Gas Fireplace
Using Vented Gas
Fireplaces as an Alternative to Traditional
Fireplaces
Fireplaces are excellent for
increasing the atmosphere and warmth of any room. Not every
home is equipped with a fireplace so sometimes, they can choose
to buy a freestanding fireplace to make up for the lack of a
fireplace in the home. These units are usually very effective
and work just as effectively as a normal fireplace.Usually
these fireplaces are gas based and are either a vented gas
fireplace or a ventless gas fireplace.
Vented gas fireplaces are a great idea for those who
want a fireplace with little upkeep. A typical fireplace uses
wood, which has to be chopped and stacked, and then burnt. Once
the fire gets going, someone has to constantly tend to the fire
while it burns and make sure to keep putting wood on a fire.
With a vented gas fireplace the only work necessary is to turn
on the gas and sit back and watch the fire go up in flames.
With a vented gas fireplace the permanence factor comes into
play with the vent pipe. To get the gas to leave the fireplace
and not fill the room with dangerous gases, it has to go
through a ventilation pipe. This pipe goes through the house
and works like a traditional chimney without the typical brick
permanent fixture. It will require a hole in the wall, which
may be troubling to some buyers, but in the end it is well
worth putting a hole in the wall for the benefit of the the
warmth of the fire and the added atmosphere just from adding
the vented gas fireplace.
Some might be concerned about the appearance of a vented gas
fireplace and the comparison to real flames. These fireplaces
do produce a flame that looks as close as possible to a real
fire as possible. While it may not have the unpredictability of
a regular fire that changes in consistency, it maintains an
accurate color and even burn throughout the entire time burnt.
A vented gas fireplace is ideal for someone looking to get a
fireplace without dealing with the hassle of keeping up with
the maintenance of a regular fireplace.
